This was a friendly match, which was played in three 30 min periods. The first 10 minutes of the game saw Blackpool on the backfoot with MBFC hardly able to get a foothold on the game. Notably after Tyson made a solid tackle on Lampard, the game changed. From then on, the game was controlled by an inspiring Blackpool side.
Blackpool could have scored several goals, however though Kwame had a wonderful game, he was the chief culprit in squandering chances including a one-on-one with the Leone Stars keeper. Kwame deserves acclaim as he and Dura basically bossed the left flank and time after time Leone stars had no answer for them. Kei Kamara made an appearance for Leone Stars, with timely interventions and good hold up play. Leone Stars scored a solitary goal against the run of play on what looked like a very suspicious offside goal. No luck however as, Leone Stars assistant coach Konneh was officiating.
Francis Koroma, aka Tortoise, in goal produced some nice saves and got several accolades from the neutral Sierra Leone athletics Track & Field squad that was also having a session in the main bowl. He also showed very good distribution with his feet. Gershon an M.O. marshalled the backline impressively and Blackpool will definitely be a team to watch in the upcoming season.
Several coaches neutrals from other teams were very impressed with Mighty Blackpool's performance which was indeed the very first serious test of the season.
